Sir Ian Wood - Billionaire

Of the few Scottish Billionaires, Sir Ian has never written an Autobiography. Sir Ian has appeared consistently on the Sunday Times Richlist over the past 20 years, and of all the Scottish Billionaires he has appeared the most. Through his charitable trust “The Wood Foundation” the family have raised and donated tens of millions of pounds to various causes, from the building of the “Lady Helen Wood” car park at the Royal Aberdeen Infirmary, to taking 40,000 tea farmers in Africa out of abject poverty through introducing and delivering of a tea distribution system which financially rewarded tea farmers and growers, reducing the power and commission of the tea distributors. Of the bigger disappointments of his charitable career was the failure to make an agreement with Aberdeen city council for the funding and redevelopment of Union Terrace Gardens. Sir Ian dislikes any reference to Billionaires, or rich lists and tends to shy away from any mention of such labels.
